Hit the trails with a trail mix that’s sweet, salty, and spicy! This fabulous and easy to make camping recipe is high in protein and complex carbs, and all it takes is mixing a few ingredients in a food storage container!
Sweet ‘n Spicy Trail Mix
Ingredients
Equal parts of the following:
- Sesame sticks
- Everything sesame sticks
- Honey roasted peanuts
- Everything roasted chickpeas
- Roasted salted almonds
- Butter toffee peanuts
- Wasabi peas
- Chocolate covered almonds
And a double part of:
- Mini pretzels
No exact measurements are provided for this because it’s really up to you and how much trail mix you want on hand! When making a family-size batch, I use one cup of all ingredients + two cups of pretzels. This makes about 2 ½ quarts, and I store it in an 11-cup food storage container. If you need a smaller batch, simply use less of all ingredients.
Also, this camping recipe is easy to modify based on your individual preferences. Want more heat? Add more wasabi peas. Want more sweet? Throw in an extra handful of chocolate covered almonds or honey roasted peanuts. You might be surprised at how well wasabi peas and chocolate covered almonds go together, so be bold and adventurous when choosing your ingredients!
To make the trail mix, simply combine everything together in a large food storage container, snap on the lid tightly, and mix well by shaking gently. It can store for up to 2 weeks – if it lasts that long!
